Founded in 2010, Endemi visual art periodical is a two dimensional gallery focusing on contemporary visual art in Iceland.
In every issue the editorial board curates and invites 12-17 Icelandic artists to take over the magazine and publish new art work, specifically made for Endemi, thus making the publication a two dimensional gallery. Artists’ involvement with Endemi invites them to take part in a new platform of contemporary art in Iceland.
Endemi´s aim is to create a predominantly visual dialogue in the form of a magazine, as a way to make Icelandic contemporary art and artists more approachable to the general public. The magazine also hosts written articles, interviews, poetry and artist writings.
With such exceptional content Endemi prides itself of a quality production and so the magazine is printed on beautiful paper and in a large format.
The editorial board consists of 7 Icelandic artists, poet, photographer, illustrator, producer and anthropologist. Endemi has been published twice and is currently in Icelandic. However in the coming issue published May 19th Endemi will be bi-lingual both in english and icelandic.
